El Rey National Park

Parque nacional El Rey In the Department of Anta in the Province of Salta, around 80 km away, in straight line to the east of the provincial capital, is the National Park "the King". Is an area of the "Yungas" and was created in 1948 with the purpose to preserve the amaizing characteristics of the "Yunga". It includes a surface of 44,162 hectares. It is open all the year, but it is recommendable in the season between May and October.

The Park is locked up by mountainous cords that descend gradually until the central valley, conforming an immense amphitheater of singular beauty. From hills they lower waters of the numerous streams that come together finally in a unique river, the Popayán. The topographic individuals characteristic of the Park, opened to the originating cold air masses of the south, determine a climate less warm than the one of the neighboring areas.
